Estimate what your site could earn from ads. Use page views and RPM, or build the estimate from CTR and cost per click.
Results are estimates for planning. Check the figures before you make a financial or health decision.
How to estimate ad revenue
The simplest way uses page RPM, which is earnings per 1,000 page views:
Revenue = page views ÷ 1,000 × page RPM
The longer way builds the figure from clicks: page views × ad units per page × CTR × cost per click × your revenue share. Google AdSense pays publishers 68 per cent of content-network revenue, which is why the share field defaults to 68.

| Ad units per page | 2 |
| Ad CTR | 1.2 % |
| Average cost per click paid by advertisers | 0.4 |
| Your revenue share | 68 % |
| Result | Value |

| Per year | 3,600 |
| Page RPM (per 1,000 page views) | 6 |
What affects ad earnings?
Earnings depend on your niche, where your visitors are, the devices they use, the number and position of ads, the season and how many visitors use ad blockers. Finance and business sites tend to earn more per visitor than entertainment sites, and traffic from higher-income countries usually pays more. Always check your own RPM in your ad dashboard.
Tips and common mistakes
Treat the result as an estimate. Early RPMs can be lower while a new site builds up, and they move from month to month.
Do not add too many ads. Pages crowded with ads can hurt user experience and SEO, and may earn less in the long run.
Use realistic page views. Count only pages where ads actually load.
Frequently asked questions
How much does AdSense pay per 1,000 views?
It varies widely. RPM can be well under 1 for some niches and countries, and much higher for others, so use your own figures.
What is RPM?
Revenue per mille: your earnings for every 1,000 page views or impressions.
Does this work for YouTube?
Yes, as an estimate. Use your video views and RPM from YouTube Studio. YouTube RPM is the amount you earn after its revenue share is taken.
How do I increase ad revenue?
Grow traffic, improve content in higher-paying topics, speed up pages, test ad placements and attract visitors from higher-paying countries.
