These terms apply to your use of houseofcalculator.com (“the site”), operated by House of Calculator (“we”, “us”). Please read them before using the site.
Acceptance
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
What the service is
House of Calculator provides free online calculators and guides for general information. Calculations run in your browser. We do not offer accounts and we do not provide any regulated service.
No advice
Nothing on the site is financial, tax, legal, mortgage, medical or other professional advice. The calculators and guides are not a substitute for a qualified adviser, and they do not replace figures from HMRC, the NHS, your lender or any other official body. You should get appropriate advice before making decisions about money, tax, property or health.
Accuracy and availability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. Results are estimates based on the information you enter and the assumptions shown. Tax rates, thresholds and other rules change, and we may not update every tool immediately. We try to be accurate, but we do not promise that the site is free from errors or that it will be available without interruption. We may change, suspend or remove any tool, guide or part of the site at any time.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the site for any unlawful purpose;
- attempt to disrupt, overload or damage the site or its hosting, including through scraping or automated access that harms the service;
- try to gain unauthorised access to the site or related systems; or
- misrepresent the results as advice, or as an official figure from us or from any authority.
Intellectual property
The site’s content, including its guides, text, design, name, logo and code, belongs to House of Calculator or its licensors. You may use calculator results for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You are welcome to link to the site. Please do not copy guides or other content wholesale, or republish them, without our written permission.
Third-party links
The site may link to external websites, such as GOV.UK. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or availability. A link is not an endorsement.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your reliance on results, estimates or guides on the site. The site is free, and you use it at your own risk. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected by these terms.
Feedback
If you send us suggestions or corrections, we may use them to improve the site without obligation to you. Please do not send anything confidential or anything you do not have the right to share.
Privacy
How we handle data is explained in our Privacy Policy. In short, calculator inputs stay in your browser and are not sent to us.
General
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will continue to apply. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about your use of the site, and no one else has any right to enforce them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and courts
These terms, and any dispute arising from them or from your use of the site, are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
