House of Calculator

Pick the type of procedure and enter its date. The calculator estimates your due date, the weeks you are pregnant today and the usual window for taking a pregnancy test.

Results are estimates for planning. Check the figures before you make a financial or health decision.

How the IVF due date works

The calculator converts your procedure date into an equivalent last period date and then counts the usual 280 days. The steps are:

  • Take away the age of the embryo from the transfer date to find the conception date: 3 days for a day 3 transfer, 5 for a day 5 blastocyst, 6 for a day 6 blastocyst, and 0 for IUI or insemination.
  • Add 14 days to match a standard pregnancy count, which starts from the first day of a last period.
  • Due date = that date + 280 days.

This gives 263 days from a day 3 transfer and 261 days from a day 5 transfer.

“Pregnant today” shows weeks and days from the matching last period date, and it says “Not yet” if that date is still ahead. The test window is shown as 9 to 14 days after the transfer, or 14 days after insemination. Clinics set their own testing day, so follow their advice. The result is an estimate, and your scans and clinic may give a different date.

Tips and common mistakes

Use the date of the transfer or insemination itself, not the date of egg collection, unless your clinic tells you otherwise. Check which day your embryo was transferred, as day 3 and day 5 give different answers by two days.

Take the due date as a guide, since your clinic will confirm it at your early scan. Testing very early can give a false negative, so wait until the date your clinic recommends. For a natural cycle, use the Pregnancy week calculator calculator instead. This is general information, not medical advice.

Frequently asked questions

Which date should I enter?

Enter the date of your embryo transfer or insemination, and choose the matching procedure. Egg collection or the start of treatment is not the right date.

Why does a day 5 transfer give a different due date from day 3?

A day 5 embryo is two days older than a day 3 one, so conception was earlier relative to the transfer date. The due date is then 261 days from transfer, compared with 263 days for day 3.

When should I take a pregnancy test?

The tool shows the usual window, but your clinic will give you a specific date. Follow it, as testing too early can mislead.
