Pick a date, a time and two cities to see the equivalent time and date there. Daylight saving is applied for the date you choose.

Results are estimates for planning. Check the figures before you make a financial or health decision.

How the Time zone converter works

Enter the date and time as it is in the starting city, then choose the city you are converting from and to. The tool works out the exact moment in universal time (UTC) using the starting city’s offset on that date, then shows what the clock reads in the destination city.

Because the offset is looked up for the date you pick, daylight saving changes are included automatically. London is on GMT (UTC+0) in winter and BST (UTC+1) in summer, and the clocks change on the last Sunday of March and October. US changes happen on different dates, so the gap between London and New York briefly differs from the usual figure in spring and autumn.

The results give the date there (which may be a different day), the difference in hours, the UTC time, and the same moment in seven other cities as a mini world clock. The converter uses your browser’s time zone database, so very new rule changes in some countries may lag until your browser updates.

Tips and common mistakes

Always enter the date of the meeting, not today’s date. If the event is after a clocks-change weekend, using today’s date can leave you an hour out.

When you are arranging a call, check the destination date as well as the time, since early or late slots can fall on a different day. Put the time in the invite with both zones written out, for example 14:00 GMT, to avoid doubt. For more on avoiding mistakes, see Time zones explained: how to convert times without mistakes.

Frequently asked questions

Does the converter handle daylight saving time?

Yes. The offset for each city is looked up for the date you enter, so BST, US daylight time and other changes are included.

Why is the time difference not always the same?

Countries change their clocks on different dates, or not at all. London and New York, for example, can differ by four hours for a short period instead of the usual five.

Can the converted date be different from the original?

Yes. If you convert a late evening time to a city far ahead, it may land on the next day. The result shows the full date there.
