Convert shoe, ring, dress and men's shirt sizes between UK, EU and US systems. Sizes vary by brand, so use the result as a guide and check the maker's own chart.
Results are estimates for planning. Check the figures before you make a financial or health decision.
How the Shoe, ring and clothing size converter works
Each conversion uses a published standard scale rather than any one brand’s chart.
- Shoes: the UK scale goes up by one third of an inch per size, and the EU (Paris point) scale by two thirds of a centimetre. Foot length is estimated from the shoe length with about 1.5 cm of toe room. US men’s is UK plus 1 and US women’s is UK plus 2.
- Rings: sizes follow the inside circumference. UK letters step by about 1.28 mm from A at 37.8 mm, and US numbers by 0.8128 mm of diameter from 11.63 mm at size 0. The EU or ISO size is the circumference in millimetres.
- Dresses: UK = US + 4 = EU − 28, in even sizes.
- Men’s shirts: collar inches and centimetres, shown against the usual printed sizes, with a rough letter size.
Results are rounded to the nearest half size. Brands, widths and national systems differ, and no formula can allow for fit, so treat the output as a starting point.

Tips and common mistakes
Measure your foot in the evening, when it is largest, standing on paper with the heel against a wall, and measure both feet. For rings, measure the inside of a ring that fits, or use a printed ring sizer, and allow for wide bands, which feel tighter. For clothes, compare your measurements with the shop’s chart, since the numbers on labels differ between brands. When buying online, check the returns policy.
Frequently asked questions
Why do shoe sizes differ between brands?
Brands use different lasts and rounding, and some use their own EU numbers. A conversion gives the standard equivalent, but the fit can still differ by half a size or more.
How do I find my ring size?
Measure the inside circumference of a ring that fits well, or wrap a strip of paper around the finger. The converter then shows the UK letter, US number and EU size.
Is EU dress size the same in every country?
No. European countries use different numbering, so this tool uses the common UK = EU − 28 pattern. Check the retailer’s chart.
